Good
New York Coffees
Below are the
best cups of coffee that I have found in New York City.
If you have
had a great cup somewhere and think it should be known please let me know!
- The Plaza Hotel - They have
an unbelievable cup of coffee. Of course it better be at $8.00 (Yes
that is not a typo it is $8.00 a cup...$25.00 for a pot brought to your
room!) It is totally worth it to go and get it at least once. I have
been there once on an off night but I have only been disappointed once.
- The Grey Dog's Coffee -
What a cute little place. They had good music pumping, a nice atmosphere
to hang out in, and such a nice bathroom. My only complaint was that
my coffee wasn't very hot. The general vibe I got from the place was
that it isn't normally like that and maybe I got the bottom of the barrel.
This quaint little place is located at 33 Carmine Street in the Village.
They are very reasonable, also. We had 2 coffees and a double espresso
and the bill was $4.50 (ish).
- Starbucks - Just for convenience
alone I have to give it up to Starbucks. You are always guaranteed a
nice hot tasty cup of Joe and with the Starbucks card (that we keep
filled at all times) it is great when you want a pre-paid meal! One
complaint I have with them is that the bathrooms are usually so disgusting
that I would rather sit there in absolute pain than pull a hover craft
in there! They really need to work on that. If you are going to serve
items that naturally make you have to go to the bathroom then you better
clean it regularly!
- Cart at 16th & 5th -
I have not yet personally tried this guys coffee but I have had a good
handful of people tell me that this guy serves up a good cup of coffee.
I will soon try it out, but I must say that as a whole, cart items are
usually pretty damn good and very reasonable! A small cup is usually
50 cents and a large is usually a dollar. You can't beat that! They
also have really good bran muffins (the cart at 53rd & 5th is at
the top of my list...Those guys RULED!!!).
